Who are we ?

We are two french students, Sarah and Mathilde, and we want to speak about French people and their personality.
To do so, we asked to french people on the internet what they think about our personality.
We have got good ideas more or less positive ones.
Our question was :
What do you think about the French personality ?
Here is what people answered :
« French people are rather proud to be French. At first sight, French are not very accessible. They remain a little distant. However the friendship is important.
About the romanticism, it is an old stereotyped and I think that we are not much more romantic than the others.
French are rather machists but I had the occasion to travel and I was reassured to see that machist is not a french particularity. »
« Often dissatisfied. Proclaming the equality, impulsive, with a sense of humour, friendly, proud, relatively cultivated,,, »
« I'm English and it's true that the French are different from us. First I think English people envy the « French way of life » : they are calmer, they stop working for lunch, family life is very important for them whereas the English never have the time because they think too much of their work. It's a very beautiful country »

Chocolate for everyone !

“Happy chocolate, which after running all over the world, past women's smile, finds death in the tasty kiss of their mouth.”
Chocolate has been considered a “cute sin”, maybe
more for women who often make a complex of weight, and thus try to reduce the consumption of these delicacies. It can “comfort” them. In fact, people who are depressed rush on the chocolate in order to feel better. Among them are often women suffering from an unhappy love affair or tired, angry or sad.
Frustrated women take their own back on chocolate, despite its bad effects ...
In fact, chocolate makes people grow fatter, which is often disliked by women, even though they are all crazy about it.
As a conclusion, we can say that, like alcohol, although chocolate should be consumed for pleasure and moral, this should be done with moderation.

Our philosophy lessons

We are in last year in our high school called Marc Chagall at Reims in France. We are going to talk about philosophy lessons from two different points of view. Some people discover philosophy as a fascinating subject in which they begin to think about things which had never attracted them before...It is an weird feeling which makes us feel like plunging ourselves in Kant's philosophical demonstrations in his « Critique de la faculté de juger », Leibniz's «Petites perceptions » ,Spinoza's Ethique or Socrate's fabulous account before his death in t Plato's Phédon.. It permits us to realize the different views Man has of the world and to know where he is in this one widening his knowledge.
On the other hand, some pupils can feel extremely bored. To them philosophy looks like an account which wil lnever finish and fall in a deep sleepiness.Or chatterboxes take advantage of the situation to try to make serious pupils become unruly .Contrary to the students who feel mentally filled, these revere the bell which sounds like a miracle. But freedom is short-lived because of the sudden remembrance of an essay they have to do for the following day.

TOWER OF POWER

Hi !
My name is Yannick and I'm 17. I'm a piano and a guitar bass player and I would like to talk about music because I think music is very important for each human being. Music is like an international language which everybody can understand. Moreover music is a personal experience because each person feels and interprets it in a different way. Each person has a particular feeling when they hear a song. I think music could bring all the people closer on earth because it is very convivial and a good social means to integrate people. I like all kinds of music but today I would like to introduce you with band I like very much.
Their name is “Tower of Power”. Tower of power is a soul and funk band who come from Oakland, California.

In the mid-1960s, the17 year-old tenor saxophonist Emilio Castillo moved from Detroit, Michigan, to Fremont, California. He started a band called The Gotham City Crime Fighters which evolved into the Motowns, specializing in soul music. In 1968, Castillo teamed up with baritone saxophonist Stephen "Doc" Kupka and trumpet/trombone player Mic Gillett, moved to Oakland, and began to write original material. They changed the band's name to Tower of Power and began playing frequently in the Bay Area.
Tower of Power has remained active throughout the years, and is still touring. Personnel changes have been part of the history and evolution of the band; at least 60 musicians have performed, toured, and/or recorded with the band through the years, including Saturday Night Live musical director Lenny Pickett, drummer David Garibaldi, trumpet Rick Waychesko, bassist Rocco Prestia, saxophonist Richard Elliot, and bassist and BALCO founder Victor Conte whose cousin Bruce
Conte played guitar in the band as well (Bruce Conte has recently rejoined). After leaving the band, one of their original vocalists, Rick Stevens, was sentenced to life in prison on three counts of first-degree murder. The other original vocalist, Rufus Miller, performed most of the lead vocals on "East Bay Grease."

What it is all about

All the poems in the previous notes were inspired by paintings by Andrew Wyeth, whose reproductions we looked at in class. My students worked in groups and wrote poems in which they had to include five words they had picked at random, from papers I had maliciously prepared for them.

Untitled

Don't let yourself be chained up by darkness !
Open your eyestowards new horizons.
Can you see how the world is fascinating ?

Don't think about the intrusive loneliness !
You felt when your peered outside.
Would you like to go for a walk through the trees ?

Don't lock yourself in sadness !
See the clouds covering freely the sky.
Can you feel the wind of liberty ?

Don't let hope leave you !
Follow its way, your pain will abate.
Would you like to go outside and discover it ?

To do so, you'll habe to step forward.

Hanging from the hook of death, I long for relief
I want to fall and become dust,
It's the only way to forget my suffering;
I had the choice, but I have made a mistake,
I thought life was too difficult, I didn't want to be hurt,
And now I can't escape.
I'm between two worlds, haunted by my choice,
Not only can't I take myself back up, but,
I'm so desperate that my arms refuse to move,
In the past I saw this fog, it made me blind,
I was so terrified, I always ran away.

I fled from him but, now I realise he was there for me,
My Destiny was in front of me.
I would give anything to break this chain which is still linking me to life
This knot which prevents me from falling,
But it's impossible, and I'm forced to be suspended in this nothingness
Until Death comes to take me and sets me free...

Toffee or not toffee?

Am I black or am I white?
Do I have to hope or do I have to fight?
Do I have to look back, feel guilty,
To be born toffee?
I run away from society
To be myself finally.
I sit now in cold solitude
Listening to the silent prelude
Of my despair.

Snowy

As I am looking at this war scene,
I wonder what the world will be like tomorrow
Men rise and fall like winter wheat
They try to survive in this ocean of snow
But nevertheless, their hearts are full of heat
One day, this blanket will melt without
wondering
wether the sky will reject the raven.
Is there a seat for me in heaven ?
